A little personal history for Ray Kelley. I was born in Pittsburg,Pa on November
21,1918. We moved to Philadelphia the following year because Grandmom Kelley was
sick and the doctors gave her six months to live. She lived for thirty years.
The part of the story I don't understand is how she got here in the first place.
I graduated from Northeast Catholic High School as did your Uncle Father Tom,
married Catherine McKay in 1941. My wife had two brothers who went to North
Catholic and became Oblates.We had seven children.now have seventeen grand
children and eight greatgrand children. I retired in 1982 from FMC Corp. in
Stuarts Draft, Va. I had spent ten years there. We returned to this area and
have lived in Deptford ever since.
When I was a kid I saw the McGraths frequently. My grandmother lived with
the McGraths and my father visited her almost every Sunday and took me with
him. Jim McGrath and I were on the Island of Saipan in 1945. He was in the Navy
and I was in the Army. But we did not find this out until after the war when
we were both back in Philadelphia I have the same memory of Grandmom Kelley as
your father.She was bedridden until after her husband died.
